The AI Operations Manager Track

A six week, part time AI course for operations professionals who want to be the person who removes work from a company instead of absorbing it. You build real AI automations, internal tooling glue, and reporting systems, then sit the same live exam our Talent network hires against. Pass and you leave with the Multistaff Certified credential, a working AI automation portfolio, and eligibility to apply to the network.

This track

Every company runs on invisible manual work: the spreadsheet someone updates every Monday, the handoff that lives in one person’s head, the report assembled by copy and paste. The AI Operations Manager is the person who finds that work, documents it, and automates it out of existence with AI, safely. This is the AI course that teaches operations professionals to do that as a repeatable system rather than an occasional heroic project. Six weeks later, you sit the same exam our Talent network hires against, and leave an AI-trained operations manager with the evidence to prove it.

Who this track is for

The mid career operations professional. You run processes, projects, or business systems, and you have noticed that the most valuable person in the building is no longer the one who handles the work but the one who makes the work stop needing handling. You want to be provably that person, with a credential a hiring manager can check rather than a bullet point they have to take on faith.

The freelance or fractional ops builder. You already set up systems for clients: CRMs, project tooling, reporting. Your problem is pricing. Certification with a published fail rate lets you sell “I remove a headcount’s worth of manual work with AI” with evidence, instead of competing on hourly rate with every automation hobbyist.

The blocked early career generalist. Operations was where smart generalists entered companies, and those coordination heavy junior roles are being automated first. The counter move is to be the person who does the automating. This track gives you the AI system and the proof.

The honest bar: this track requires real operations seniority. The application screens for it, because we teach AI augmentation, not operations judgment. Automating a process you do not understand produces mistakes at machine speed, and we do not certify those.

What you build, week by week

Weeks 1 to 2: Operator Core. All tracks train together on the shared foundation. You assemble a personal AI stack you can justify tool by tool, learn workflow engineering (turning one off prompts into documented, repeatable AI systems and agent assisted pipelines), and build verification discipline: where models fail on operations tasks, especially silent data errors, edge cases, and automations that work in the demo and break on the tenth real input. You connect the stack to real tools through automation, and you baseline your current throughput so your multiplier is measured at the end, with artifacts.

Week 3: Process mapping and documentation. Automation starts with seeing the work clearly. You build the process discovery workflow: interviewing, observing, and using AI to turn messy tribal knowledge into precise process maps with owners, inputs, failure points, and cost. Then the SOP system: documentation that stays current because producing it is part of the AI workflow, not an afterthought. The graded standard: could a stranger, or an automation, run this process from your map alone.

Week 4: AI automation builds. The core of the track. You build real automations on integration platforms and AI assisted scripting: multi step workflows connecting spreadsheets, CRMs, schedulers, forms, and email; approval chains; data syncs that reconcile instead of duplicate. Equal weight goes to the unglamorous parts that separate professionals from tinkerers: error handling, logging, idempotency in plain terms (running it twice must not do the damage twice), and knowing which processes should keep a human in the loop.

Week 5: Internal tooling and reporting. You build the glue layer: lightweight internal tools on top of the systems a business already owns, and the reporting system: dashboards and automated readouts where every number has a verified source, because a wrong dashboard is worse than no dashboard. You close by assembling your AI automation portfolio and measuring your throughput against your week one baseline.

Week 6: Capstone and certification exam. A full deliverable set produced with your own AI stack under timed, screen recorded exam conditions: a documented process map, a working AI automation that rebuilds that process end to end, and a reporting dashboard with verified numbers. Two graders score it against the public Operator Standard rubric.

The certification

The exam is graded against the published Operator Standard, the same six competency rubric used to admit every operator in the Multistaff Talent network. You are scored on output quality, verification behavior (does the automation handle bad input, are the dashboard numbers actually right), AI workflow maturity, and honest throughput.

The pass rate across all applicants to the standard is under 15 percent, and we publish it. If you do not pass, you get one free retake within 90 days. If you pass, you become Multistaff Certified, with a verifiable credential page on multistaff.com. The credential expires annually and is renewed through a light recertification, because the AI integration and agent tooling landscape does not sit still for a year.

The path to the network

What passing gets you, stated plainly: eligibility to apply to Multistaff Talent, the network companies use to hire certified AI operations managers on subscription.

Network admission still requires a judgment interview, reference checks, and a supply and demand check for the function. We do not place everyone who passes, and we will not promise you a job. What we can say honestly: the certification exam and the network’s hiring exam are the same exam, our best graduates do get hired through the network, and top capstone performers are fast tracked and featured, anonymized, on the site. Operations is also among the network’s deepest demand functions, which is worth knowing when you weigh the investment.

Upskilling an operations team? The AI course for business runs the same program privately on your company’s real processes, which means the training ends with your actual workflows rebuilt. See Academy for teams.

Curriculum

Six weeks, week by week.

Operator Core

The AI operator stack, workflow engineering from one off prompts to documented AI systems and agent assisted pipelines, verification discipline, connecting AI to your real tools through automation, and baselining your own throughput so the multiplier is measured, not claimed.

Operations track

Process mapping and AI assisted documentation, automation builds on integration platforms and AI written scripts, internal tooling glue across the systems a business already runs on, SOP libraries, and reporting systems, built and shipped on real style briefs.

Capstone and certification exam

A full operations deliverable set produced with your own AI stack under timed, screen recorded exam conditions and graded by two graders against the public Operator Standard rubric.

Outcomes

What you can do by the end.

  • A personal AI stack for operations work, documented and defensible tool by tool
  • A process mapping method that turns messy tribal knowledge into documented, automatable workflows
  • Working AI automations built on integration platforms and AI assisted scripting, with error handling that survives contact with reality
  • Internal tooling glue: spreadsheets, CRMs, schedulers, and databases connected into systems people actually use
  • A reporting layer that gives leadership numbers they trust without anyone compiling them by hand
  • On passing, the Multistaff Certified credential and eligibility to apply to the Talent network

Capstone

A documented process map, a working AI automation that rebuilds that process end to end, and a reporting dashboard with verified numbers, produced with your own AI stack under exam conditions.

FAQ

The Operations track

Do I need operations experience to join this track?

Yes. Function seniority is a prerequisite, and the application screens for it. You should have owned processes, projects, or business systems somewhere real. We teach AI augmentation, not operations judgment, and automating a process you do not understand just produces mistakes at machine speed.

Do I need to be able to code?

No, but you should not be afraid of a formula or a webhook. The track works primarily with integration platforms and AI assisted scripting, where the model writes most of the code and your job is to specify, test, and verify it. Several strong operators have never written code without AI assistance; all of them can read what the AI wrote closely enough to catch it being wrong.

How much time does the program take each week?

Eight to ten hours per week for six weeks. Live cohort sessions are scheduled around working hours, and the graded weekly deliverables are done async on your own schedule.

What happens if I do not pass the certification exam?

You get one free retake within 90 days. There is no certificate of completion as a consolation prize. The exam can be failed, and we publish the pass rate, because a certification everyone passes is a receipt, not a credential.

Does passing mean Multistaff will place me in a job?

No. Passing makes you eligible to apply to the Multistaff Talent network, which also requires a judgment interview, reference checks, and a supply and demand check for the operations function. Our best graduates do get hired through the network, and the certification exam and the hiring exam are the same exam, but eligibility is the honest promise.
